It seem to be getting worse doesn’t it? There seem to be
so many restrictions and hurdles I don’t know how the adult
entertainment industry is surviving. I guess it’s lucky for
them that the Northern Territory and Bush Capitol are allowed
to sell porn. Still not being able to sell it in any other
state is very debilitating! Aside from where companies can
sell it, there are even restrictions on what it can contain.
I can understand banning footage of things that are otherwise
crimes, but why ban harmless fetishes? If you don’t want to
watch it, don’t! It’s not the hard to avoid material you
object to, why does the government have to step in?
But the really scary thing is that it’s not just porn that
they censor. Look at those poor law firms.
In some states
they can’t even offer potential clients information about
their reputation, or any other competitive information. And
they pretty much admit they only have censorship laws in
place against advertising a certain lawsuit practice to
protect insurance company profits! How awful is that? What
about the lawyer’s profits? Are these people not just as
important? It’s sickening.
Even the internet gets its share of restrictions. The worst
of it being the mandatory filter they made a couple of years
ago. It doesn’t seem right that our government has reserved
the ability to block whatever they want on the internet. I
hear it’s the first step to an Orwellian society. I don’t
really go on the internet much, but sometimes when I feel
a bit frisky I like to browse it for some special material,
and I don’t like ending up at a blocked website when I’m
looking. Kind of a mood killer. The government seems to
quickly take the negative complaints about media, but what
about the rest of our complaints about censorship? I’d like
to be free to look at what I want, and people who don’t want
to see it can avoid it. And parents who want to protect their
kids can do it themselves. Protecting people from “bad things”
will only make them weaker, not safe. It seems people are at
least fighting against the internet censorship, hope they
kill it. At least this post it protected under political
speech or something, they’re not THAT bad…yet.
This all went through my mind the last time I got blocked,
I figured I’d read up a little on it and rant about it.
